Hoc House is a collaboration that acknowledges that sometimes, improvised solutions are the best ones. Drawing from ad hoc and DIY culture, students and alumni of SAIC’s Designed Objects department have designed a home for the urban dweller with space and cost in mind. Made in a few days, each unit in Hoc House addresses an element of human need: sleep, work, clean, comfort, and company. Each designer took cost, time, and material accessibility into consideration so that each piece is efficient and easy to recreate without the need of complex production processes.
